Terrance Quinn was born on the 15th July 1952, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, USA of part Irish ancestry, and is an actor. He is best known for his role of John Locke in the television series “Lost” (2004 – 2010) as well as other appearances in series including “The X-Files” (1995), “Millennium” (1996 – 1999), “JAG” (1995 – 2002) and “Alias” (2002 – 2004). O’Quinn has been active in the entertainment industry since 1980.

He studied at the University of Central Michigan and then at the University of Iowa. Before starting his career in acting in the early 1980s, he worked as a bodyguard and boxer, among other jobs. Concerning his professional career, he changed his name to Terry O’Quinn in reference to his Irish origins, and not to be confused with another actor already called Terrance Quinn. He made his first film appearance in Michael Cimino’s film “Heaven’s Gate” (1980), but didn’t rise to fame until 1987 and 1989, after landing roles in the two hit films “The Stepfather 1” and “The Stepfather 2” in which he played a serial killer.
