The actress in question is none other than Paget Brewster, who is 54 today. Throughout her career, Brewster took on several memorable role on TV, including Criminal Minds, How I Met Your Mother, Community and Hollywood. She's still very active in Hollywood these days with voice over work on plenty of top tier shows such as Family Guy, American Dad! and Praise Petey.

However, despite all the success, most fans remember Paget for her time on Friends, playing the role of Chandler and Joey's ex-girlfriend, Kathy. She appeared in six episodes of the show between 1997 and 1998. Ultimately, although the actress wishes she could've stuck around longer, her time was cut short after her character Kathy cheats on Chandler while in a play with another actor. Prior to Matthew Perry's passing, Paget Brewester revealed she owes her career to Matthew Perry. Brewster remembers her time on the show with HNGN, mentioning she was very nervous to take on the role behind the scenes.

"That was like my first big job," the actress tells HNGN. "They cast me, I did six episodes and those guys were so nice because I was terrified."

She continues, "I actually owe Matthew Perry my career," she beams. "He was in the casting room when I got that and I guess he went to bat for me and said, 'She's the funniest one; you have to cast her.'"

Brewster would go on to reveal that she took full advantage of her time on the series, even breaking certain rules.

"When I was guesting on Friends, when I wasn't in a scene on shoot nights, I climbed up into the lighting catwalks above the stage and audience to watch everyone," she revealed on X. "A huge insurance no no. I regret none of it."

Following the announcement of his passing, several former stars from Friends offered tributes towards the late actor. Brewster was one of those cast members, writing a tribute on X.

“I’m so very sad to hear about @MatthewPerry. He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades after,” wrote Paget Brewster, who had a six-episode arc on the show. “Please read his book. It was his legacy to help. He won’t rest in peace though.. He’s already too busy making everyone laugh up there.”

Another person who worked closely with Perry on the show, Maggie Wheeler also issued a tribute via Instagram. "What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”

Creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane Along with producer Kevin S. Bright also wrote out a statement combined towards the late actor.

"He was a brilliant talent. It’s a cliche to say that an actor makes a role their own, but in Matthew’s case, there are no truer words. From the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us. We will always cherish the joy, the light, the blinding intelligence he brought to every moment – not just to his work, but in life as well. He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart.”
