Atlanta rapper Ralo has often talked about sticking to a good path by leaving the street world behind, but his latest “good deed” has left everyone questioning his intentions.

Last week, the “Can’t Lie” rapper posted a video to his Instagram, visiting the parking lot of a homeless shelter. With a reported $30k in hand, the rapper proceeds to throw the cash in the air, with many civilians leaving a food line to grab the money. “F**k going to the strip club, all the n****as wit money let’s go to all the homeless shelters and make it rain on the poor people,” he captioned the video.

The act didn’t sit well with many who believed if the rapper truly wanted to help, he could have found a more efficient way instead of letting people crawl on the floor for the money. Refusing to apologize, Ralo took to Instagram on Monday (Oct. 24), to explain his actions. “No matter how much good you do, they still gone say some bad bout you,” he said. “I get 10k just to perform in the club why the hell I can’t give back to the needy? I been making it rain in the clubs all my life AND ain’t nobody neva said s***t bout that but when I give it to those that really need it, it’s a problem. Ain’t tell nobody to laugh nor did I tell anyone to fight over the money. I went to several different shelters that day AND did the same thing.”

Speaking with FADER in August, Ralo says he’s hoping his music can give hope to the hopeless. “With Diary Of The Streets II, I’m hoping to feed the streets and be heard everywhere,” he said. “My goal is to inspire more people to get in better situations. Going forward, I hope more people will tune into my music and my life through music.”

Ralo has promised to start a #RaloHomelessChallenge where he’ll encourage other rappers to give back to homeless shelters. We just hope it’s in a more appropriate way.
